Obviously Fanon has taken over Canon in Harry Potter
While reading movie reviews for 7.2 one thing was often criticized as being different from the books when it was actually pretty much like it was in the book.
It's just that Fanon is so internalized that is seemed wrong to almost everybody.
While the Slytherins don't get locked into the dungeon, they are the first to be escorted out. All of them!
The Slytherins staying behind, wanting to fight against Voldemort, proving that not all Slytherins are bad/evil only exist in Fanon
and yes, I read that complaint so often in the past few days that I actually took the book out again, to read that passage to make sure I wasn't the one who remembered it wrong
