So you think you can dance- Finale
First my over-all impression of the final four dancers
Melanie: I mentioned before that I disliked her from the first moment on. Her "look-at-me-I'm-so-cute" smile makes me want to punch her everytime.
Perhaps this makes me not see why she is supposed to be so great or it just is that the judges hyping her to no end, while never pointing out when she fuckes-up (as she did a couple of times)
Marko: I loved him during auditions, but then he spent the first five weeks pared up with Melanie. So I was constantly rolling my eyes during their routines that got nothing but praise even if they fucked-up
But since the all-stars came on, I started to remember why I liked him to begin with
Tadd: He was in the bottom so many times, I'am tired of his solo. Yes, solo, not solos. Because he shows the same tricks over and over and over again. In the final he's the odd one out, with no chance at winning
Sasha: Funny enough, last year when she was touring with Adam Lambert, I didn't like her at all. But she won me over in the video packages to this show.
Somehow she managed to get through the first five weeks with good humor, despite being pared up with Alexander (Insider gossip has it, that all through Vegas Week he made fun of Sasha's sister, and how people of her body type shouldn't be allowed to audition for the show)
Melanie/Marko - Disco:
-Wow, this is a lame disco routine, and no, this has nothing to do with Melanie for once, but due to the non-disco music that was choosen for this performance
- Thank you Marry, for calling out the less than perfect lifts
- And so does Nigel ... *surprised*
Sasha with All-Star Mark - Contemporary
- Sasha, Mark and Sonya - A FOR THE WINcombination
- And it was as wonderful executed as it looked on paper
Tadd with All-Star Joshua - Hip-Hop/Krump
- Tadd lucked-out with getting this routine
- And he's outdanced his All-Star (who won Season 4)
Melanie with All-Star Robert - Contemporary
- In therms of over-exposure Robert is becoming the next Pasha
- Between that cover of Elton John's song and Robert's open shirt, I didn't even notice that Melanie was dancing
- For me, that's a good thing
- And than I spottedd Matt Flint in the audince, all smiling *swoon*. Can't wait to see him dance tomorrow. (Even if I fear they are going to pair him up with Jess to do that routine in did with Luke in the UK finale... and that's not exactly one of my favorites)
- No, no, no, no, no ...... Melanie in the remake of Dirty Dancing? Do not want! Do not want! DO NOT WANT!!!!!
Sasha/Marko - Broadway
- I have no words
- Love, love, love it
- OMG! Marry's little guesture to the audience to keep booing Nigel!!! She's so much win!
- But of course, Nigel had to give this a bad review... can't have anyone else than his beloved Melanie win, can't we
- Don't make me comment in Melanie's video promo or solo
- Oh Marko..... that was beautiful. I wish I could have rooted for you for the whole season
Sasha/Tadd - Cha Cha Cha
- Nigel said Sasha wasn't sensual enough in the Broadway routine .. I think she lacked it in this routine
- Nobody is booing at the critic of this dance. I guess everybody could just see that this was a mess
- Kenny Ortegas advice to them, to just forget it and kill the remaining routines was one of the best judging ever
Marko wih All-Star Lauren - Contemporary
- So all the finalists had an All-Star routine in their own style.
- Does anyone remember when Nigel said, he would not bring back any winners of previous seasons as All-Stars last year?
- Well, we now we had two prior winners just in this show
- And of course having Lauren there is a good reminder, that the winner isn't always the dancer who got the biggest pimping by Nigel and the other judges. So there is hope yet that Marko or Sasha can win this
- And hey, look, Legacy is in the audience too. Shame they didn't bring him back as an All-Star
- Yes, I am still madly in love with Season 6 (Even with Jakob not winning back then)
- do we have a drinking game yet, about every time I mention that I'm still bitter about Jakob not winning?
- Hmmm. I have yet to say something about this routine, haven't I? Well, it was solid, but not really memorable
- Tadd's video promo just showed that he indeed is a one-trick-pony
- Wow, looks like Tadd saved a trick or two for his final solo.. *surprised for the second time today*
Melanie/Taad - Jazz
- So they keep pimping Melanie, as she's the only one who has been out of the style only once, and most people will by now have forgotten the opening routine of the evening.
- Vamp!Melanie looks even more fake to me than Cute!Melanie
- And the show seems to listen to the "Keep your shit off Tadd" Fanclub
- Sasha's solo have been the best all season
- And this one was too short (not something I say about a lot of solos)
Oh dear, I was afraid they cut the boy's and the girl's routine, when they said four routines each... good it is four routines plus a solo each...
Sasha/Melanie - Contemporary
- Is it just my skewed view or was the whole piece choreographed to have Sasha support Melanie, and therefor keep pimping Melanie?
- Ok, can anyone tell me what the purpose of Katie Holms is on this show? She brings nothing but useless comments to the table
- And the third surprise of the show is that Nigel congratulated them both, and didnt singe out Melanie once again
Marko/Tadd - Stepping
- Oh dear.... they pimped the girls by giving them contemporary (keeping them both in their own backyard), and then had the boys do something that was in neither's syle.
- And Marko was really off in this
- And Nigel called them out for being off, despite this being the last routine.
- Nigel also called out that he wants a girl to win.
- Interresting reaction from the studio audience to that. Perhaps people started voting for one of the boys now just because of Nigel's comment
Who I think should win: Sasha
Who most likely will win (due to audience influenced by the judges pimping) : Melanie
Personally I think I will not remember this season for the things that were great, but for everything that went wrong
- The lack of diversity in dance syles. Both in the routines on the show as well as in the selection of the Top 20 Dancers
- The judges refusing to eliminate Jordan and Robert in week one, and therefor not eliminating anyone
- The double elimination in week two, where the judges decided to eliminate Ivetta over Ryan. (Choosing Ricky over Nick hurt the show again in the diversity department, but was fair due to Ricky's outstanding solo)
- Keeping Ryan and Jordan safe again and again over girls that had more talent
- The fact that most of the girls on the show were pretty much interchangable in both syle and looks
